Mr Mohammad Jawad has led the burns reconstruction surgery in
the much documented 'Katie Piper Story' which has been covered
by most national broadcasters and press in recent months. The
case is of a young model who was brutally attacked with acid in
2008 and left with horrfic burns to the face and body.
Since the attack, Ms Piper has been under the treatment of Mr
Jawad who has performed a series of pioneering, ground-breaking
operations to rebuild and restore her face and affected areas
of her body. Throughout these procedures, artificial skin substitutes
and grafts were used and, even some 15 months following the attack,
Ms Piper is required to wear a mask 23 hours per day in order
to aid with the flattening of her scars and continual moisturisation
of her skin.
Mr Jawad, who has been hailed by some as a 'medical genius' for
his surgical work, will feature in a Channel 4 documentary for
the flagship series 'Cutting Edge'. The documentary, which covers
the the story of Katie Piper's rehabilitation, is due to be screened
on the 29th October, 2009.
